Gettysburg College acquired a property previously occupied by a fraternity and restored the building’s exterior and completely renovated the interiors for Economics Department and Africana Studies academic use. This decision required careful reorganization of the historic building to provide the necessary academic spaces without sacrificing the residential quality of the former living quarters. A one story rear addition was demolished and expanded to make way for a more appropriate two-story addition that provides additional office space, collaboration space, conference facilities, a student lounge, and two teaching spaces that function as classrooms and labs for testing of economic theories.
