Completed by Noelker and Hull’s Frederick, MD, office (formerly King, Asbury & Associates), the Urbana Regional Library and Senior Center occupies a prominent location in the New Urbanism-inspired Urbana Town Center. Inspired by Carnegie libraries, the three-story building serves as an urban focal point in the surrounding area. The facility houses meeting spaces and a senior activities center on its ground floor. The central art gallery on this level is connected to the library above by a 65-foot high skylit atrium.
The library includes a children’s area with stroller parking, quiet adult reading areas, Internet access facilities and a Teen Zone, as well as additional office, study and meeting spaces.
