Noelker and Hull’s Bob Asbury, principal, joined Frederick County Public Library system and more than 200 people from the community to celebrate the opening of the new Myersville Community Library.

The new 7,200-square-foot library, located at Harp Place Park, the site of a former elementary school, offers an open floor plan to allow for flexibility and space for community events and meetings. There are two study rooms, a laptop bar, a community gathering room with a smart technology board, and an interactive children’s department. The children’s and adult’s book collections are spatially separate and allow for a visual connection between the two spaces. The facility incorporates high-speed internet access and a trolley car exhibit to commemorate the history of the Hagerstown and Frederick trolley that ran through town.

“This branch is here because of the community of Myersville,” said Marian Currens, Myersville branch manager. “It has everything you can come to expect from your Frederick County Public Libraries in terms of meeting space and the materials we have to offer. We’re really just hoping to connect and meet our new community.”

Myersville becomes the ninth branch of Frederick County Public Libraries.
