Earlier this month, Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, PA, welcomed Bishop Timothy Senior for the rededication and blessing of their newly renovated Perpetual Adoration Chapel. The event featured a mass led by Bishop Senior, followed by a blessing ceremony in the chapel, with additional participation via simulcast in the Narthex.

Recently completed, the Adoration Chapel project involved 566 square feet of renovation, including reorienting and enlarging the chapel from 174 square feet to 279 square feet, upgrading accessibility, adding two restored stained-glass windows, and elevating finishes to enhance the space’s sacred atmosphere.

Lauren Bennett, AIA, of Noelker and Hull Associates, served as the lead architect for the project. Known for her expertise in ecclesiastical design, Lauren worked closely with the parish to honor their vision while addressing the technical challenges of modifying the space. Her previous work at Corpus Christi, including the design of the Narthex addition, earned her the trust and gratitude of the church community. Noelker and Hull interior designer, Cassie Kennedy, NCIDQ, worked with Lauren to ensure the chapel’s interior achieved an atmosphere of dignity and prayerful reflection.

Father Allan Wolfe thanked everyone involved, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and attention to detail and saying, “I thank our Architect, Lauren Bennett, who again, has brought beauty to our place of worship. . . she was the one who designed our beautiful Narthex, and now, as a second project here at Corpus Christi, has lifted our hearts by the beauty she has designed together with our interior designer, Cassie Kennedy. Because, as you know, in life, it is all in details—and they helped us choose details well that bring out the beauty of simple surroundings.”

This renovation highlights the power of thoughtful design in creating spaces that inspire devotion and community. Noelker and Hull is proud to have played a role in bringing this sacred project to life.
