Noelker and Hull Associates, Inc.’s (Noelker and Hull) Dan McDougal, senior project manager, joined town officials and residents from the town of Myersville in Frederick County to break ground on the new Myersville Community Library.
Noelker and Hull is providing architectural and interior design services for the new 7,000-square-foot library, located at Harp Place Park, the site of a former elementary school that once served as the town hall and has since been demolished.
The new facility is scaled for its siting near a residential neighborhood, and the site design is integrated with an adjacent park. The library’s placement takes advantage of nearby views but will be buffered from nearby homes.
The library’s interior will offer an open floor plan to allow for flexibility, community events, and meetings. The children’s and adult’s book collections will be spatially separate but allow for a visual connection between the two spaces. The facility will incorporate high-speed internet access and a trolley car exhibit to commemorate the history of the Hagerstown and Frederick trolley that ran through town.
“As we do with each of our libraries, the Myersville Community Library will offer programs and services that enable customers to connect with us and to connect with our partners and to connect with each other,” said James Kelly, Director of Frederick County Public Libraries.”
