Noelker and Hull was hired by Wilson College to provide architectural and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design services for renovations to the 2,385-square-foot Laird Hall board room and adjacent pre-function lounge space following a localized disaster event that compromised the integrity of the space. The College used the rebuilding opportunity to expand the board room space and create a larger multi-function room equipped with the latest audio and visual technology that can function as a seminar or lecture room, as well as the formal board room.

To accomplish the expansion, it was decided to demolish an existing wall and fireplace at one end of the board room and relocate it. The original roof penetration for the demolished chimney is now a skylight providing additional daylight in the center of the enlarged room. In the pre-function room, the original vaulted plaster ceiling was covered with an acoustical assembly imprinted with an early version of the map of Chambersburg to control sound and provide visual texture.
