The new School of Nursing facility at Lebanon Valley College was conceived as a home for an expanded Health Professions curricula on the campus and as an adjunct to the existing Arnold Health Professions Pavilion that was completed in 2018. The new 36,000 SF structure was sited to provide a direct connection to the Pavilion to encourage collaboration and to create a strong identity for an expanded health professions campus. The hillside location of the School of Nursing provided an opportunity to create a new outdoor green space that stretches down the hill to the primary access road, giving nursing students access to a grassy lawn and an exterior patio from the new connecting link. New program specific facilities include a simulation suite with 5 simulation rooms and adjacent supervisory control rooms, a skills lab with room for 2 separate learning sessions, flexible classrooms, a variety of study options for individual and group activities, and an administrative suite. Exterior materials were selected to complement the existing Pavilion.

Our architectural and interior design goals for this project were to create:

  • A well-designed and unique learning environment;
  • A high-performing and sustainable facility that is easily maintained;
  • A building that is flexible and adaptable, including modern office space, learning areas, and collaboration spaces in support of evolving education methods, technologies, and research initiatives.
