The new 24,000-square-foot facility serves the St. Michaels community in Talbot County, Maryland. The new facility located on the grounds of Talbot County Public Schools’ St. Michaels Educational Complex, which was redesigned by Noelker and Hull in 2009, extends the YMCA of the Chesapeake’s services into the relatively isolated St. Michaels and Tilghman Island communities.
The new YMCA includes a swimming pool, gymnasium, wellness center, and exercise community spaces, a teen/intergenerational center, a child watch area, locker rooms, YMCA offices, and work spaces.
The facility adjoins St. Michaels High School’s athletic facilities, parking is shared with the school, and a cooperative program is established between the school and the YMCA.
