Trippe Hall is a new, four-story residence hall at Penn State Behrend. At 60,000 square feet, the new residence hall adds 251 beds to the on-campus residential capacity. Located at the edge of campus, the building is sited to take advantage of views of the adjacent forested ravine, with a rear patio and activity center providing easy access to the ravine’s various hiking trails.

A large building lounge and living room and kitchen on the ground floor serves students gathering, entertainment, and special events needs, while floor lounges and study rooms on each floor provide spaces for social and academic use by the floor residents. A large laundry room with remote capabilities via a smart-phone application supports students’ domestic requirements, while multiple restroom cores on each floor provide residents with private toilet and shower facilities. Accessibility for students with disabilities is provided throughout the building.

In association with design architects, Ayers Saint Gross, Trippe Hall, a design/build delivery, was designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) Silver certification through a variety of green building strategies, and will boast the latest in audio/visual and wireless computer access technology.
